Long time No see!

Just in case I still have any followers out there, I wanted to say hello! Although I haven't written in ages I have still been a faithful follower, scout's honor! I always thoroughly enjoy reading about all of your delicious food and recipes, fun events, races and killer workouts. You all never fail to motivate and inspire me!

So, whats been up in my world? A. Lot. For starters, the usual school and work. I'm still chipping away at my classes (with stellar grades might I add!) and am beyond excited to finish this darn degree, still on the same track to finish in December or January. Work is busier than ever, which is a good thing because busy workdays make the time fly! I'm waist-deep in Maid of Honor duties. As a matter of fact I am throwing a bridal shower for the sister this Sunday and I couldn't be more excited! I've purchased some adorable table decorations, we have some fabulously delicious snacks and I'm working on an embarrassing, but fun game to play.

In other news, my running plan has had a few kinks thrown in it but I swear I am bouncing back better than ever. I even mailed off my registration form for my first ever half marathon this morning and I am totally stoked! Mark your calendars- December 11th...hopefully I'll make it out alive. But if you don't see any posts from me after then...you'll know why. Just kidding, I'm totally gonna rock it. The "kinks" that I mentioned earlier though- I had to get my wisdom teeth extracted, all 4 at the same time, all were impacted and EXTREMELY painful. Needless to say that took some time to recover from. I couldn't run for the longest time without ridiculous throbbing in my head. I decided it wasn't worth it to push through and took a little hiatus. I also had a minor mishap on the boat which caused me to not really be able to put a lot of pressure on my right for for a bit (we won't get into that though because it still makes me angry to think about). But now I'm back and ready to roll! I've also decided that I am going to follow the "no running 2 days in a row" rule. Every other day suits me just fine. Pretty sure that the last time I decided to train for a half/marathon I injured myself due to over-training. I want to make sure that doesn't happen this time, so I'm really trying to stick to a plan- even though I definitely consider myself a no-plan kind of girl. Cross-training and throwing in some rest days sound ideal to me!

Anyways, I know this was a brief update, but I really, really miss blogging so I am going to make an honest attempt to get back in the habit! Hope everyone is well and I'll be back soon!

Ta Ta for now!

Filler post

This is just a crappy little filler post until I can manage to get my butt to our home computer and upload the pics from our trip.

Yesterday, despite my plethora of motivation earlier in the day, ended up being kind of lazy. I'm definitely still catching up in the rest department and actually still feel a little run down today. I did go to the gym, and I did get in 45 minutes of cardio (30 minutes stairs and 15 minutes elliptical) but after that I was spent. I called it quits and headed home for some R&R. Scotty was feeling the same way. After working until 6:30 he decided to skip the gym all together. I whipped up some baked chicken for him, but went vegetarian for myself. I threw together some shredded lettuce, onion, tomatoes, green pepper, chick peas, black olives, salsa and shredded cheese. It was a pretty delightful little salad (ok, it wasn't so little) and the perfect dinner for a hot day. I skipped out on my weight training and walking the dog, so I really have to get it together tonight.

Breakfast this morning was eaten on the go, like most days- a protein bar. I had a banana for a mid-morning snack. I was rushing to get out the door this morning and completely forgot to bring anything for lunch, so I headed across the street for an egg-white, turkey sausage flatbread from Dunkin Donuts. Afternoon snack consisted of a handful of almonds. Dinner tonight is my favorite tomato soup with chick peas (I'm addicted to them) and some deli chicken (Boars Head Golden Classic- the best!) to squeeze some protein in there.

I've got a short run on the agenda. Since I haven't run in a few days I don't want to overdo it. My long run will probably be on Sunday (long for me, that is). I also desperately need to incorporate my upper body weight training this evening, and a walk for the pup. Her annual vet appointment is this Saturday and it's an important one! Last year when she had her shots and blood work they let us know that she'd be better off about 5lbs lighter. So we've been working really hard on not giving her people food and monitoring exactly how much dog food she is getting. In her older age she isn't quite as active, so we need to start paying more attention to these things. I think it's really paid off and I can tell that she's a little slimmer and has lost some of that pudge. But, the real test will be Saturday!

Signing off for now...I'm going to do my best to get those pictures posted this evening, so check back!

It's Over Alreadyyyyy?

I can't believe how our little trip flew by! It's already Tuesday morning and I'm back to the daily grind. Anyone else find it particularly hard to get back in the swing of things after you've been on vacation? Even though this was just a little mini vacation, I'm finding it really difficult! But I'll survive. One thing that is making it a little easier is knowing that it's only a 3 and a half day work week! I promise a full recap of the trip a little later, but let me just sum it up by saying it was all about weddings, baseball and babies! I had assumed that wedding dress shopping with my sister would be an all day event...boy was I wrong! She ended up putting a deposit down on the 3rd dress she tried on. Not to brag or anything, but I picked it out! It is STUNNING if I do say so myself. Saturday afternoon's baby shower was a hit. I had a blast just enjoying good company of friends and family...and I guess the home made ice cream didn't hurt either ;) And to top it all off...my little brother is a baseball stud! His team came back from being down 2-7 in the 4th inning, to win the game 8-7! So exciting and I'm pretty sure I made a complete fool out of myself cheering. But no matter what he says, you could tell he was eating all that attention up! And finally, Sunday afternoon we attended a good friend's wedding which was absolutely beautiful. We didn't know that it would turn out to be an all day event, but arrived at 2:45 for a 3:00 ceremony and didn't end up heading home until 12:30am! Long story short: the bride is Indian so the couple opted for both a Christian ceremony as well as a traditional Hindu ceremony. I had never seen anything like it (or been to a wedding that lasted that long!) but it made for a very beautiful, interesting wedding. As expected, the reception was a blow-out party with plenty of food and booze. I ate Indian food for the first time and loved it!

Needless to say, I ate WAY too much of things that I would usually NEVER eat (sweets galore!) and only ran 1 time. I had so much fun though and don't regret one single minute of it. However, I do admit that I am glad to be back to my normal routine and can't wait to fill up on some healthier choices and hit the gym this evening!

Off to lunch now! Ta ta!

I'm just like butter...

On a roll! Last night was mucho productive. I decided to be an adult and get all of the "must do's" out of the way first before working out. Plus, this is what I saw when I was driving home from work.

That is not exactly my ideal running temperature, especially when it feels like a sauna! So instead I got 1 and a half papers written. The remaining half will be completed on the plane or in between flights this evening, I mean what else am I going to have to do other than annoy Scotty? I got lots of laundry done, packed all my stuff (in 1 carry-on I might add!) and straightened up the house. By the time I was done being a responsible adult, I looked at the clock to see that it was almost 8:30 and I hadn't done any sort of physical activity, unless you count folding clothes. So I jumped into some gym clothes and hit the road. Unfortunately it was way too late and dark outside to run- but oh how I wish I could have. The temperature had cooled down to this...
And I'm no meteorologist, but it felt like very low humidity as well. Such a rarity around here. Instead I completed just 30 minutes on the elliptical and a killer ab workout, I am feeling the burn today! Not a lot, but better than nothing. Unfortunately life calls sometimes and you can't fit in everything you need to do. That is something that I'm working really hard to accept!

I'll be heading out from work around 2:00 this afternoon instead of working the whole day like I originally planned. At first I was a little upset about that because it seems like a waste of vacation time, but arriving here this morning I realize that I'm soooo excited to leave early!
Excited face!

Breakfast was picked up from my second home, Dunkin Donuts, in the form of a turkey sausage, egg white flatbread sandwich- hold the cheese! And a large refreshing iced tea.
Yum! Yum!

And my last exciting news for the day- the scheduling worked out so that I will get to attend my cousin's baby shower while I'm visiting my family. So, I went baby shopping yesterday! SO. FUN! I picked up 2 packs of 3 onesies and a pack of 3 bibs...
All for $4.99 each! I love finding bargains! And they're so cute!

Well, I am signing off to complete my work for the day and then I'm leaving on a jet plane!  I might be MIA for a few days, so I'm wishing you all a happy weekend in advance!

Smooooookin'

Goodness gracious great balls of fire! Literally! Yesterday was a scorcher! I set out for a 4 mile run at around 7:20pm. I try to leave the house as late as I can, still being able to fit my full run in during the day light. Not that I live in a scary neighborhood, I just don't feel comfortable running alone at night. Cha never know what can happen man! I swear, just a couple weeks ago this would have been the perfect time to run! Last night however, and this whole week really, it has been MIS-ER-A-BLE. The humidity is killing me! The air is so thick that it's hard to breathe. I toughed it out though, with a quick water break after the 3rd mile- thought I was going to choke without it. I followed up my run with a 2 mile walk with the doggy dog. Strength training was skipped (bad girl!).

Hot & Sweaty Run! (please excuse the mess behind me)

Another pet peeve besides the ridiculous heat, one of my biggest ones ever? Gnats! Is it just the weather or is there something in the Florida air??? It is so annoying when the little turds fly in your eyeball (ok that sounds completely gross, but you know what I mean!)...especially when they don't die and then you can feel them crawling around. Eek- it gives me the heebie jeebies just thinking about it. Well, that has happened to me on my past 2 runs. Not to mention approximately 20-30 more that were stuck to my skin and shirt!

On a different note, there are many, many things that I love about my man Scotty. He's ambitious, fun, handsome, loving, protective, etc. One flaw he has? He is extremely absent-minded and forgetful at times! He had me in a near panic attack yesterday afternoon. I left booking our airline tickets for our trip tomorrow in his hands. He asked me what times I preferred to leave and come back, yada yada yada...and I didn't ask any more questions. I just knew the deal was done, nothing to worry about. WRONG! My mom asked what time she should pick us up at the airport tomorrow night and I told her that I'd check with my little crazy Scottster and let her know. When I asked him to forward me the confirmation email (which I should have done A LONG TIME AGO), we discovered that he must have trashed it because it was no where to be found. Also come to find out, he had no idea what airline he booked the tickets through. NOT GOOD. It took all night for us to figure it out and luckily when I called this morning (thats right, if you want something done the right way you must do it yourself!) they were able to send a new confirmation. Phew! The bad news- we leave much earlier tomorrow than I had originally thought. So looks like now I'm going to be leaving work early tomorrow too- that's all fine and dandy except that my vacation time is slowly but surely dwindling away. Oh well, it will all be worth it!

I just enjoyed a delicious chicken, lettuce, tomato, olive, onion, pickle and spicy mustard spinach wrap. To die for- love me some Publix deli! I've got a 6pm spin class and a long walk with the pup to tire her out for the dog sitter (hopefully) on the agenda tonight. Then it'll be more paper writing, house cleaning (it's bad enough for me to see my house in a disaster, but no one else will!), and packing.

I'm off to take the rest of this work day DOWN! Have a great afternoon!

Is it Thursday yet?

I think that my pending trip to visit my family this weekend is seriously making this week draaaaaag by. I feel so unproductive and anxious and antsy and unable to concentrate! Oh and I am also a liar. Why is it that at the beginning of the week I plan out my workout schedule, but then rarely end up sticking to it? Last night I had planned on the stair mill and a quickie run with upper body weights following...didn't happen. What happened instead? A much longer run, followed by 3 miles of walking, followed by the strength training. Still an excellent workout, just not what I had planned. I think I am more of a fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants kinda girl instead of a planner. I am just really going to make sure that I focus on getting 4 days of running in, in order to be prepared for the half marathon, and then cross training can be whatever I feel like and fill in those gap days (except for the occasional rest day of course!).

Instead of putting the insulation installation off until a later date like I had thought he would do, Scotty got busy last night. My job? Handing him the big slab of fluff to push up the attic stairs. That stuff is seriously gross. It makes you all itchy and gets in your eyes if you don't have the proper equipment. Needless to say it wasn't the hot and sweaty run that made me shower and wash my hair, it was the insulation!

After the gym tonight I have a paper to write, boo. But I want to get all of my school work for the week done before Thursday so I have the entire weekend to spend with the fam, no stinkin' school interruptions!

I've got a delicious looking beef tenderloin and potatoes cooking in the crock pot for dinner, served along with a side salad. It's making me hungry just thinking about it! Lunch today was a veggie sub on whole wheat bread, filled with lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber, pickles, olives, a little oil & vinegar and a sprinkle of parmesan cheese. Just what I needed to hopefully gain some concentration and power through the rest of this workday!

Have a fabulous Tuesday folks!

Recovering from the weekend

Sooo…the weekend plans changed quite a bit. We'll start with the good: Friday night. We watched X-Men and it was great. I highly recommend it. They did an awesome job of incorporating and giving reason to so many things that happen in the sequels. And the popcorn wasn't too shabby either :)

Saturday morning started out with an awesome spin class, a long walk in the heat and lunch at Ruby Tuesday with the Scottster. I had a bowl of broccoli cheese soup, a side of grilled green beans and a side of tomatoes with balsamic vinaigrette. We then parted ways because I had a monstrosity of a grocery list to tackle and he had a fun-filled trip planned to Lowe's for insulation supplies. Considering he hates grocery shopping and I don't know the slightest thing about insulation, we headed out on our own to tackle our to-do lists. My trip to Publix was a success, albeit expensive. But I couldn't hold a candle to Scotty. I was shocked that he beat me home, and also that I couldn't see into our garage. It was completely jam packed with huge containers of insulation. I guess I didn't realize how much we would need to cover the attic…turns out about $1500 worth…boo :(  Let's hope it lowers the electric bill and is worth all that moolah!

Since the supply shopping didn't end up happening until mid-afternoon and it was like a bazillion degrees outside, we decided to scrap the project until early Sunday morning. We had every intention of waking up at the butt-crack of dawn and knocking it all out with plenty of time left in the day for some afternoon boating. This did not happen. We forgot that UFC was on Saturday night. We debated buying it and watching at home, heading out to a bar or going over to one of our friend's friends house to watch. We settled on the latter but then came to find out that these people had changed their minds and weren't having people over…how rude, you mean we actually have to pay money for it now?!?!?! haha

Plan B included driving to Hooters for it. Our friend that we went with is moving away this coming weekend, so we won't be seeing him for a good long while and due to this fact, we randomly decided that we should have an all-out-drink-fest in this honor. Not a good idea. Very, very bad idea.

Beer (and chicken wings) at Hooters, more beer and several shots at a club, and after-hours drinks back at his house= not a good Sunday morning. I haven't had a hangover like that in YEARS, and I plan on making it several more years before it happens again. Maybe my 30th birthday? lol

So, the bad news is our garage is still jam-packed with insulation and our attic is not. I got absolutely nothing accomplished yesterday because the mere thought of moving made me want to hurl. And the Heat got put away by the Mavs. All in all, not a great day.

But today is Monday and I am in a terrific mood because I only work 4 days this week and then Scott and I are off to Missouri/Illinois to spend some time with our families. So excited :)  Can't wait to see what type of wedding dress my sister settles on. And I desperately hope that she finds it on our trip this coming Saturday because I REALLY want to be there! I'll probably cry a little if she finds it when I'm not there( But I'm being optimistic that Saturday will be the day!)

Since Saturday night was a total failure on the fitness and nutritional front (and it even boiled over into Sunday), I am planning on getting a great start to this week. Tonight I've got a short run planned, followed by some time on the stair mill, upper body strength training and a walk with the puppy. Come to think of it, I wish I could get outta here and get that started now! Unfortunately this little thing called "work" is standing in my way! Hope everyone has started off the week on a positive note!

Everyone has a bad day...right?

So, by the time I made it home from work around 2:00, I decided to nix the gym. I left work at 12:30 but made a pit stop at the Tropical Smoothie Cafe for a mid day snack- a Hawaiian Breeze smoothie, blended with Splenda and whey protein= delish! I also nabbed a Peanut Paradise smoothie, blended with banana, peanut butter and whey protein for the Scottster and surprised him at work. I think he was happy :)

Back to the workout- I was in the mood to run, I really was. And although it was 95 degrees and probably like 105 with the humidity, I decided to give it a go......Worst.Idea.Ever. I had to cut even my "short run" short, not good. I ended up doing a little less than 3 miles, not good enough. But I was beginning to feel dizzy and shaky and I was still a good mile and half from home, cell phone-less as well, so I decided to take it easy and walk just to make sure someone wouldn't have to call an ambulance for the passed out girl on the side of the road.
What? You don't think the "I'm about to have a heat stroke" look works for me? Me either.

Lesson learned: never run outside during the hottest part of the day again.

Another downer- I took off my shoes to find this:
Sorry for the graphic picture, but don't worry, I also texted it to my Mom and grossed her out as well. Not sure what's up with this, but I have one in the same spot on the other foot as well and on the end of my second toe! And I wear good socks...any advice? It's pretty friggin' painful.

Admittedly, I was disgusted with myself and I knew that I wanted to get a better workout in than that today. So, I came inside and downed like 50 ounces of water and did some upper body strength training. Followed by a ridiculously long walk, like 6 miles, which would have been beyond boring but I talked to my grandma (aka Mimi) for a long time because today is her 68th birthday and then Scotty joined me for the last couple miles. So, all in all, not a complete failure.

Now I guess it is time to get these stinky clothes off and get ready for my hot date with this guy:
To the movies we go...to bad you can't take dogs to the movies. How cool would that be?

Hope everyone is having a wonderful start to the weekend!

Whitney

I am alive, I swear

Hola friends! I've been beyond slacking on the blog front. Not to worry though, although I haven't been posting myself, I've still been a dedicated reader! Reading blogs is one of the best parts of my mornings. You all inspire me with your hardcore workout posts and drool-worthy food pics!

I won't spend toooooo much time updating you on what's been going on in my world, but here are some of the highlights:

1- If I do say so myself,  my classes are kicking butt. I think I've made A's in the last 4 and I'm not slowing down until it's over! I'm on track to finally finish this degree off at the end of the year! That just might be the best day of my life!
2- My sister is getting married! As a matter of fact, Scott and I are flying up to visit our families and we will be wedding dress shopping next Saturday! How exciting is that?
3- Lots of pool time, beach, boating and general fun in the Florida sunshine!
4- Half training is kicking my boot-ay, but I'm learning to love it. It's really hard to find the time to fit it in on somedays but I'm going to continue to try and make it work because this is something that I really want to do...hopefully a full is in my future at some point as well!
5- Enjoying lots of delicious summer foods: smoothies, grilled veggies, salads and I think that broccoli slaw might just be my new best friend.

My office practices "summer hours", which means that Monday through Friday we work 9 hour days in order to only work a half day on Friday. This makes for one happy girl on Fridays! Today I'll be leaving at 12:30 and hitting the gym for some light cardio and upper body strength training, then it's home for a quick run outside and a little walk with the pooch. Tonight we have big exciting plans to go watch the new X-Men movie...but the real fun starts tomorrow (sarcasm). We will be putting insulation in our attic! Fun, fun! The joys of being a homeowner and the joys of having an electric bill that is through the roof! Enough complaining- I love being a homeowner and today is going to be a great day!

Have a FABULOUS weekend!

Wahoo!!!

I would just like to announce that IT'S WEDNESDAY!!!

Not only does that mean we are one day closer to the weekend, but it also means that tomorrow night the Scottster and I fly outta here for Missouri! Yay for visiting family, and Yay again for a 3.5 day work week!

Remember how I mentioned like a million years ago when I last posted that my mom has started a Couch to 5K plan? Well, I was thinking about it and while it is awesome that she is doing this, considering she has NEVER ran in her entire life...I thought, how much cooler would it be if she did a Couch to MARATHON plan???? Running your first marathon at 44? That'd be pretty awesome. I had already been tossing around the idea of making Rock N Roll St. Louis my first one...plenty of time to train since the race isn't until October 23. And then I thought, how freaking sweet would it be if my mom and I ran our first marathons together? I think I'm getting all these crazy ideas in my head thanks to the Boston marathon. Although I know I will probably NEVER EVER come close to qualifying for Boston, I'd still love to be in that 1% of the human population that can say they've completed 26.2.

Anyways...she hasn't agreed to it yet, but she told me she would think about it and we could discuss it more this weekend while I'm there...yay! What's more fun than talking about running?

My plan right now is to follow the 16-week training plan found at Marathon Rookie. Looks easy enough to follow--ok, maybe I should refrain from using the word "easy" in a statement about marathon training, but I think it looks do-able. And I'm actually really excited to get started! But seriously...who runs a marathon in 2:03? That guy must be part super hero.

Not sure what the plan for the gym is today- either cross training or treadmill, I can't make up my mind yet. I guess I'll just go with the flow and do whatever I feel like at the time. Tomorrow is a running day, and so are Friday and Saturday. It may sound like a lot of days in a row, but I'm still in the low mileage stage, so it's not too strenuous.

Totally changing the subject- we bought a new BBQ grill and it has completely transformed my life for the better. When we were living in our condo we couldn't really have a grill because we didn't have a place for it. I guess we could have had one of those miniature ones to put on the lanai, but it would've just been a big mess and probably filled the whole place up with smoke. Anyways, now that we have a yard and the perfect spot for the ginormous thing- I couldn't be happier. You see, I don't know how to grill, or really even how to turn the darn thing on. So, Scotty has been doing mucho cooking here lately and it is FABULOUS! I'm still in charge of the side dishes, but anything that I can pass off to him I'll gladly oblige. He's made some delicious burgers, brats (my fav.), salmon, mahi mahi (gross!) and chicken. Healthy food and less work for me equals happiness!

I'm off to get some stuff done and then outta here to the gym...Have a fabulous Wednesday!

Lovin' Life

I don't know what has gotten into me, but I am liking it! The class I am currently enrolled in is kickin' butt, which is something I am totally not used to with this school. I feel like I'm actually learning and it feels good for a change. My workouts have been rocking. Work is going great. The home life is awesome. And...in exactly 9 days Scotty and I will be flying up north to see the fams! Super, super excited. Even more exciting news- My mom has recently started a couch to 5K. Music to my ears when she told me that. So I of course told her I would train with her while I'm there next week! Won't be much running involved since she just started, but any chance for a work out buddy and I'm there!

Another exciting thing going on- this coming weekend we might get to go skiing! This makes me particularly happy because Scotty and I both love skiing and we usually only get to do so once a year when we head up north in the summer for our annual Kentucky Lake vacation trip. We do have a boat, but it is definitely not a ski boat. Your arms would probably literally be ripped from the sockets if you tried to ski behind that thing. So, I'm thrilled that one of our friends is planning on taking his boat out (and us along with it!) to do a little skiing. The one thing that worries me is that we will be skiing on the Caloosahatchee River...which leads into the gulf...which means that 2 things could be living in there- 1. Sharks! 2. Alligators (because it is pretty far up river). An encounter with either of those is very unlikely in the area we will be in, but there's still that slim chance...Eek!

Well, I am off to finish off this work day and then to kick my own rear end in the gym. Can't wait for dinner tonight...maybe I'll remember to take a picture because it's gonna be mighty tasty!

Woman on a mission

So...I know I have been MIA in the last little bit. Basically I've just been one busy girl. School is going amazing right now though, and I dare I say that I might be enjoying it a tad? I think so. My workouts have been kicking serious boo-tay as well. Yesterday I spent quite a bit of time on the stair mill and 10 minutes on the elliptical before heading home to do some strictly lower-body pilates/toning exercises, crunches and then heading out on a 1.5 mile sprint with my Scotty boy and then another 1.5 mile walk with the pup. Today is spin class (love these days), a little more elliptical, and then another short sprint-a-thon before dinner. I've got a 5K (this is a major competition with my #1 boy) coming up in May and I have to find a way to win. As we stand now, he's going to kill me. I know I'm working just as hard as he is and it just isn't fair that his legs are soooooo much longer than mine and that is proving to be a major advantage for him (disadvantage for me!). I will find a way to win though...losing is just not an option. I won last year, but let's face it, he did not prepare for it at all.

It's only Wednesday but I'm already planning for and getting excited about the weekend. Friday night we are........babysitting! Scary huh? It wouldn't be scary at all if it was just for 1 kid, maybe even 2, but it's for 3! Count em...an 8 year old, a 6 year old and a 3 year old. We've done it before no biggie, but this is probably going to be an over-nighter. I am already having anxiety attacks about how they are going to trash my house and leave everything snotty and sticky. So this is the plan...grill hot dogs and hamburgers for dinner (which will be eaten outside on the patio), rent Despicable Me and hope they fall asleep watching it at like 9:00. I know it sounds like I am totally dreading it, but truth is they are amazing kids...they can just be a little tough to handle all together! So...mad props to all of you moms out there (especially those of you that have more than 1!).

Saturday we are doing some much needed yard work and just laying low, probably recovering from babysitting and then that night the plan is to make a nice dinner at home and head to the theater to watch "Arthur". I don't know why, but ever since Russell Brand married Katy Perry, I like him so much more. I found him just really gross pre-Katy, but I think my love for her is starting to rub off on him too. Plus I just think it looks like a pretty funny movie.

Sunday will most definitely be my favorite day of the weekend though because it's boating day! The weather is shaping up for a perfect day on the water and I can't wait! I'm also thrilled that in just a little over 2 weeks we'll be heading up north to see our families! Kind of dreading the flight though...thank you Southwest Airlines. Luckily, I think, we chose USA3000 this time. I'm hoping that the weather in Missouri will have settled into Spring by then!

Hope you all are having mah-volous weeks so far and that it continues through the weekend!

Friday is supposed to be fun...

So why in the world would I volunteer to let Scotty kick my rear end in the gym today??

Still trying to figure that one out.

I have less than 2 hours left sitting at this desk and then I'm outta here...going to die at the gym, eat some dinner, do a little school stuff, maybe watch a movie and then hit the sack. It feels like it's been such a long week and I'm not really sure why that is. Anywho- tomorrow is spinning class in the AM, which I'm hoping to make it to, depending on how sore I am after today's lovely routine in the weight room. More school work is on the agenda for tomorrow...then Sunday is boating day! Woot woot! Can't wait. We're going to be having some AWESOME weather and there is only one thing to do on those kind of days, boat.

Sorry for another ridiculously short and rather boring post, but I think I'm in a blogging funk...help, help! Get me out of this funk! I'm sure a little weekend relaxation will be just the cure!

So this is probably going to be the most boring post I've written to date...not too much is going on in my world. Ok, let me rephrase that- not too much exciting stuff is going on in my world. Of course I'm crazy busy with the usual: SCHOOL (ahhh!), work, working out and trying to find time for a social life. Other than that, I have nothing cool to report on.

I'm at work for another hour today and then it's off to the gym. I took a much needed day off yesterday for my sanity's sake. I got to leave work early to take a final exam, which lasted FOREVER and a day. When it was over, I was completely drained. All I wanted to do was go home and curl up on the couch with dinner and some good old reality TV. Luckily, we had Real Housewives of the OC recorded from the night before. Just what I needed...a good laugh courtesy of Tamara Barney. She might be a complete biznatch sometimes, but I still love her. She never fails at cracking me up.

Today I'm ready to get back in the game. I've got some miles to complete on the treadmill and some upper body strengthening exercises. Thankfully I have a beef tenderloin roasting in the crockpot at home for dinner. That just really makes my whole day to know that I really don't have to do much cooking when I get home...just take it out and enjoy! I'll probably prepare a salad on the side.

Hope you're still awake after reading this...maybe I can think of something a little more entertaining to say tomorrow! Until then ta ta!

It's the weekend Baby!

It's my favorite day of the week! Friday is usually a fun day at work because everyone is in a good mood and already starting to unwind for a fun-filled weekend!

The agenda for the weekend:
1. Spin class Saturday AM
2. Clean house Saturday late AM
3. Get out in the beautiful Florida sunshine, I mean, would you look at this forecast???
4. Manicure at some point
5. Run on Sunday
6. Movie date with the Scottster
7. Study (boo...that really throws a kink in my whole weekend!)

Unfortunately Scotty has to work tomorrow pretty much all day (darn road construction doesn't hault for anything!)...so Siesta Key will have to wait :(

Last night was supposed to be a running night, but that didn't happen. I had a feeling while driving to the gym that if I let myself get on the treadmill I would let myself get off of it much too soon...I needed a major kick in the pants and someone to force me to work out. Therefore, I opted for another spin class. You might remember from an earlier post about the young guy that I took a class from before and how he is like a darn drill sargeant (in a totally awesome way though) on that bike. It was one of the toughest spin classes I've taken but I was really grateful because I know with the mood I was in yesterday that if I would have attempted a workout on my own it would have been cut seriously short. So, an hour after entering the spin room, I left dripping sweat from my eyeballs. I don't know what is wrong with me...I would say that I'm in pretty darn good cardiovascular condition, but when everyone is leaving the spin room, I am usually by far the most sweaty...even compared to the guys! Whatevs- at least I know I'm doing what he's telling us to do I guess.

Tonight is DEFINITELY a running night. I'm in a totally different mood and think I can manage to force myself to at least put in a few miles on the treadmill. I will do it, I will do it...I have to- that competition between the Scottster and myself will be here before I know it. And I will do ANYTHING to beat him and keep the title!

Breakfast was a boring old protein bar and coffee. Lunch is, you'll never believe it, another wrap with a side of fruit. Dinner is still undecided at the moment. Snacks in the lunch bag today include almonds and a pineapple Chobani. I am so predictable.

In other exciting news- we booked our tickets to head home to see the families for Easter! Yay!
So, I'll be back in Missouri April 21-24 and I'm getting really excited to see these guys...
and my mom, step dad and grandparents as well (but I don't feel like digging up a picture of everyone!)

Welp, thats all I have for now. Here's to a FABULOUS Friday and weekend to come!

Thursday! Thursday! and three things

Is anyone else out there thrilled that it is Thursday??? I sure am...that means tomorrow is Friday!!! Woohoo!!! (in my best Vicki Gunvalson voice)

I've been studying my little heart out for the past few days and my school is being a big pain in my you-know-what actually. I've had technical difficulties with this new program like you just wouldn't believe, and they are being ridiculously unfair about it. I'm hoping to be able to push my final to Monday afternoon, but not quite sure yet if they'll allow it (even though they definitely should because it's THEIR FAULT!!!). Anyways...due to all this studying and boring, mind-numbing school work, I am more than ever ready for a fun-filled weekend! We are thinking about shooting up to Siesta Key for a day this weekend to chill on a beach that might be slightly more beautiful than ours...and just a change of scenery would be nice. One of Scotty's co-workers told him that this time of year the water is gee-orgeous and so clear you can see the bottom. Unfortunately, this doesn't happen too often at Ft. Myers beach, okay it never happens. So, it'll be nice to see!
Siesta Key

I'm also hoping to finally get out of the house to catch "Limitless", the new Bradley Cooper flick...love him! Am I the only one who is glad him and Renee are done-zo??? He needs to hook up with someone like Jennifer Aniston if you ask me.

Here are three random things about me since it's Three Things Thursday:
1. One of the accomplishments I'm most proud of is that my high school volleyball team won the State Championship my senior year...and I'm really excited about the day that we all get to go back to the State Tournament and be honored in front of the whole crowd (even though thats like 20 years away!)
2. I almost threw up in spinning class last night (shhhh don't tell anyone, it's kind of embarassing). It wasn't because it was so difficult (although it was challenging), but I still have so much crap draining down my throat from being sick, it made me extremely nauseous...TMI I'm sure.
3. I miss my little brother like CRAZY and I'd probably do anything he asked me to. He's 8 and adorable and probably one of the most genuinely nice kids you'll ever meet. I've really never met a kid like him. He never says a bad thing about anyone and always tries to make everyone feel good. He really is a special little guy. Last night he called and asked us to buy a "butter braid" from him. His little baseball team is selling them for a fundraiser. Of course I said yes, even though I know we'll never eat it...how would we even get the darn thing here all the way from Missouri?!?! Oh well, anything for him!
Jack, the little bro

Tonight is another running night. Not sure how far I'll go, just plan on getting on the old mill and doing what feels good. I love running like that. I've also got to incorporate some strength training because once again I am a slacker in that department. Off to eat some lunch now! Another yummy chicken wrap is calling my name!

Wrap it up!

I have a feeling that I'm going to be on a wrap kick for a while due to yesterday's amazing lunch.
This wrap contained chicken, lettuce, tomato, onion, black olives and some seriously spicy mustard. If you need your sinuses cleared out, I suggest going to the Publix deli and ordering spicy mustard on your sub/wrap. It has some major kick to it but is oh so delicious. I also enjoyed a lovely bowl of fruit on the side.
It was the perfect lunch and kept me satisfied for hours. I think that sometimes I tend to not eat enough during the day and this is when I sabotage myself at night. I definitely find it to be true that eating often throughout the day prevents myself from stuffing my face at night.

I'm also trying to drink extra water. I'm usually pretty good about getting around 60 or so ounces per day. But I've been filling this bad boy up and sipping it throughout the day...
Yes it is a plastic bottle and I am sort of ashamed, but I reuse it every day, rinsing it out and washing it off of course. I like it because of the size. It holds 1.5 liters of water, which means I don't have to constantly get up and refill it like the smaller ones. I have at least one of these a day and then whatever else I drink when working out. Usually bringing my daily water intake to about 75 ounces, not too shabby.

Spin class is on the agenda today and I'm super pumped- just wish I didn't have to wait until 6pm for it. I'm also going to tack on a little elliptical workout at the end, or the beginning, depending on how early I can make it to the gym.

Breakfast today was an Atkins chocolate peanut butter bar and coffee. I've got some almonds for a mid morning snack. Lunch is a wrap made by me, no spicy mustard today, with chicken spinach and mozzarella cheese, grapes on the side. Mid afternoon snack is Chobani pineapple yogurt (new obsession, the best Chobani flavor in my opinion), and dinner is vegetarian tonight: a salad, honey glazed carrots and cherry tomatoes. Yummy! I've got lots of good eats to be excited about today! Hope everyone has a Wonderful Wednesday! Ta ta!

Oh what a beautiful morning...

Yes, it is true that the weather in southwest Florida is absolutely phenomenal and work is the last place I want to be right now...but it's a beautiful morning for another reason too- The appliance repair man was at our house at 7am this morning to fix our fridge! We can now have filtered water again and ice! You really don't realize how much little things like this matter until you have to do without. I can't even begin to tell you how sick I was of drinking room temperature water (unless you wanted to freeze it for a while) or not having ice cubes for my green tea. Thankfully that is all over now and normalcy can resume.

My Monday night spin teacher must have  been reading my mind and how I was really hoping for her to make class a tad more challenging because she really kicked it into high gear last night. I made it to the gym a little early so I decided to kill time before class with 10 minutes on the stair mill. I rushed down to class just before it was about to start and after about a 1 minute warm up on really low resistance, she had us cranking that resistance knob all the way up. Starting out in a really high gear gets those muscles burning from the get-go, and it was a much welcomed feeling. She incorporated lots of standing climbs, jumps and switch-backs (my favorites!) and I loved every minute. Hope she keeps this style up!

I downed a couple cups of coffee this morning with a peanut butter protein bar for breakfast...I was awake in time and had every intention of whipping up some eggs for breakfast but it was impossible with the repair man working in the kitchen. So, instead I gladly enjoyed my breakfast on the go.

As we speak, I am snacking on some almonds and trying to decide on lunch. I couldn't get in the fridge to pack anything for lunch ( I knew I should have done this last night), so looks like I'll have to figure something else out. I've got another protein bar (snack size) to give me a little pre-workout boost. Today I am forcing myself to get on the treadmill. I've majorly been slacking in the running department and I've got a really important race coming up--not only because it supports our local police department--but because it is mine and Scotty's 2nd annual competition. He has yet to beat me in a 5K, and although he has already been preparing hard for this one, I have no intention of letting him take my crown. Therefore, I'm starting to prep early and will be incorporating LOTS of speed work if everything goes as planned. The race isn't until May 21, so I think I'm giving myself ample time to get ready! Right about now is when the competition starts getting pretty heated and the trash talking gets to an all-time high. So, I have to be able to back it up!

Dinner tonight is looking like a salad. I had a heavier meal last night of turkey kielbasa with stir-fried veggies, topped with shredded cheese...so I'm looking forward to something lighter tonight (I think it's got something to do with this warmer weather).

On another note- I am feeling SO much better today. Still a little congested in the head, but I guess there are worse things you could be in your head. Now I'm off to get some work done and hopefully a little studying too ;)  My final is this coming Friday so I'm trying to study as much as possible...I need this one to be a good one!

Where did the weekend go?

I guess it's true that time flies when you're having fun! Seems like the weekend was a whirlwind...but a very fun one!

It started out slow, with me going to the doctor on Friday afternoon to find out that I have an upper respiratory infection AND an ear infection...nice. So, $80 later I'm starting to feel better. Not as good as I'd hoped for being on antibiotics for 3 days now, but getting there. I took Friday off from the gym and after Scotty got home from his workout we had dinner and watched "The Fighter"...I give it a B+. I think because I am such a huge Rocky fan (all of them) that it's going to be hard for a boxing movie to ever compete. But it was good. As a matter of fact, I'd say it was more about the lives of the 2 brothers outside of the boxing rather than the boxing itself. Mark Wahlberg is one of my favorite actors (and so dreamy too), but I have to give Christian Bale his props. He did one heck of a job portraying a crack head.

Saturday morning I woke up early and had a quick bite to eat and a cup of coffee and headed off to spin class while Scotty was still asleep. The usual instructor couldn't make it, so we had this guy, we'll call him Roy, the body builder teaching us. He let us know right off the bat that he is not an experienced spinner, but I had a feeling that the class would be very intense regardless...you could tell this just from looking at the guy. Half of the stuff he was yelling at us to do he couldn't do himself, literally because his legs are that big...sprints were out of the question for him. But he played killer music and was very motivating and I found the class to be fairly challenging and upbeat, which is where some of the other instructors at my gym are lacking.

After I got home and blew an air horn in Scotty's ear to wake him up we decided that it was too beautiful of a day to skip out on boating. So, we loaded everything up and headed out. There were soooo many boats on the water that I couldn't believe it. And they were all headed exactly where we were headed- Ft. Myers Beach. The beach was packed with mainly partying Spring Breakers...I held my inner 21-year old in and limited myself to 1 beer and passed on the jello shots and pina coladas. We were beat when we got home from such a long day in the sun and pretty much just chilled on the couch for the rest of the evening.

Sunday I debated on hitting the gym for a while but finally decided against it. I didn't want to wear myself out too much and then feel like crap for the BASEBALL GAME. Our seats were AMAZING!
We were so close, an unprotected!, that a foul ball actually zoomed right by us and nailed someone right behind us in the chest/neck area. They were ok but pretty shaken up for a bit. The Cards ended up winning which made me very happy. One of the Red Sox players tossed Scotty a ball from the duggout, so that was pretty cool too. I had no idea what was happening because I was taking as many pictures as I could.

After the game I was feeling pretty crappy again. I think that the combination of the antibiotics and all the sun was really wearing on me. So we went home and I took a quickie nap, ate some dinner and then went back to bed.

I'm definitely still not 100%, but getting close I'd say. Tonight is another spin class, some stair climbing and then home to see my 2 favorite...well favorite person and favorite dog. I'm pretty stoked about watching the premiere of Dancing with the Stars...GO HINES!
But I still have to make some time for studying too...could be a late night! Well, I am off to finish the work day- Happy Monday to all!

I thought an apple a day kept the doctor away...

So I may not eat an apple every day, but I definitely enjoy a few per week. And I'm finding this little phrase to be untrue. I'm still not feeling any better at all...the Claritin, though I've only taken it twice, isn't doing to trick. Nyquil and Dayquil aren't doing the trick...fluids & rest, also not doing the trick. You know what that means? I think it's time to take a little trip to the doc. It's been over a week now and I'm still not over this.

I did manage to make it through 40 minutes of cardio yesterday at the gym. Not my usual ritual, but better than nothing. I did think that I might die half way through it though, or at least throw up. I probably should have quit right then, but I'm kind of stubborn and my brain doesn't work like that. So I kept at it and stopped not a second after that timer struck 40:00.

I'm not sure if I am dealing with allergies or if it really is more than that, but hopefully the doc can enlighten me. I need to start feeling better, like yesterday, because I have a big weekend coming up. I think we've decided to scratch the movie for tonight though in order to allow me more time for total rest and relaxation at home. I'm thinking of grabbing "The Fighter" from the local RedBox instead.
Love me some Mark Wahlberg
Tomorrow we have some friends, actually a friend and then his friends, traveling through town on a Spring Break road trip...and what do they want to do? Go boating of course. I think people use us for our boat, but thats okay. We don't mind, any excuse to take that beast out is a good one in my book! And you better believe I won't miss it, not even for being sick. But still, hopefully I can get some meds to kick in really hard core over night and can be feeling A-OK tomorrow morning. I also really want to go to spinning class in the morning pre-boating.  Did I mention that I'm contemplating buying my own spin bike to keep at home? I think it would save me mucho time...that's more time that I could put into studying :(..... Then I definitely have to be back to myself to enjoy Spring Training baseball on Sunday.

The other upside of going to the doctor, second to hopefully starting to feel better...leaving work a little early on a Friday! Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

Discovery

I think I've made a discovery...I have an allergy problem. I always new I had a hint of an allergy problem because I'd get a little congested, runny nose, scratchy throat, watery eyes in the spring time back in Missouri, well...apparently palm tree pollen brings out the worst in your allergies. And where do I live...The City of Palms, go figure. I've noticed that the symptoms have progressively gotten worse since I've been in Florida, but never really put 2 and 2 together. I always just attributed the symptoms to a cold, but I'm beginning to think otherwise. So, I just went out and bought some Claritin as a recommendation from one of my co-workers, on my lunch break. I'm willing to give anything a try at this point. I can hardly talk without getting all choked up, and sleeping is a whole different story. Sleep is something that comes naturally very easy to me...but not these days! I have to consistently have liquid in my throat or else a coughing attack ensues...and then I almost throw up! Wow! I'm a hot mess.

I continually felt worse and worse yesterday, so the gym and spinning class did not happen unfortunately. I listened to my body which was saying "GIVE ME A BREAK! I WILL PUT YOU THROUGH HELL IF YOU MAKE ME ENDURE A 1 HOUR SPINNING CLASS!". So I went home instead, watched the Miami Housewives, ate a little dinner, took a nap, ate a little dessert, and then went to sleep for the night.

Today I still feel pretty crappy, but I have noticed a slight improvement. And hopefully the Claritin will kick in and offer some more relief. I am DEFINITELY 100% getting my butt to the gym today...if my body is screaming at me, I'm going to ignore it. I NEED to exercise. I need to get those endorphins flowing. That might just be the trick to kicking this thing.

No spinning class is offered today, so I'll just stick to some good ol' elliptical and stair mill. I also need to do some strength training. My schedule is so out of whack from being sick though, so I'm not sure if it'll be upper body or lower body strengthening, I'll just figure it out when I get there.

Tonight is GTL time! I never thought I'd be the type to fall in love with Jersey Shore, but here I am at 1:00 in the afternoon anxiously awaiting the 10:00pm hour. On another positive note, tomorrow is FRIDAY!! Woot woot! This weekend is seriously gonna be the shiznit and I can't wait to get this partay started!!!!

Hope the rest of your Thursdays are fabulous!!!

Ugh I feel like death

I started getting sick end of last week...took some time off of work...started feeling better over the weekend...felt almost completely normal on Monday...and now I feel like death.

What the heck happened? I've relapsed. And I actually feel worse today than I did all last week. Unfortunately, I don't want to use up all my sick days at work when we're only in the 3rd month of the year, because knowing me I'll be sick again come September or October...so here I am, miserable and trying to do work. Although I feel like I could crawl in bed and sleep for 24 hours straight, I still plan on hitting spin class tonight. That's not to say I'll actually make it through the whole thing, but by-golly I'm going to try! I've read that it's ok to workout as long as your symptoms are above the neck, and for the most part mine are. I am starting to feel a little chest congestion, but I'm going to try to ignore it and hope it doesn't back fire.

I did the one thing that I knew would make me feel a tad better at lunch...got a little sunshine (its a B-E-A-U-TIFUL day in southwest Florida) and made a trip to the Tropical Smoothie Cafe. I had a Hawaiian Breeze smoothie, which is orange-pineapple flavored. It's blended with Splenda instead of sugar, and I asked them to throw in a scoop of whey protein and a vitamin C immune booster.....it hasn't kicked in yet, but I've still got my fingers crossed!

I've actually managed to get quite a bit of school work done today, so after the gym I plan on doing a minimal amount at home in order to rest and recuperate (aka lay on the couch and watch Modern Family and last night's episode of Real Housewives of Miami).

Good news is that Hump Day is almost over, which means the weekend is in sight! I'm going to have a fun one too (even if I am sick)! Friday night I think we'll go see the new Bradley Cooper (total hottie!) movie "Limitless"

...Saturday morning I'm having a yard sale!!! Can't wait to get rid of a bunch of stuff that is just taking up space...but Sunday is what I'm REEEEEALLY excited for! Scotty's office has season tickets to all Red Sox spring training games, which are played in Ft. Myers...though I am not a Red Sox fan, I am a HUUUUUUGE St. Louis Cardinals fan

...and they're playing the Red Sox Sunday afternoon here in Ft. Myers! Guess who called dibs on the season tickets??? My man! What a sweetie! He's not a fan at all, but is going to go anyways just for me! It's gonna be a blast!

Well...I am off to miserably finish the rest of my day here at work and try to make it through a pretty tough workout. Wish me luck!

Boo on you Monday

You came WAY too soon. I feel like the weekend has come and gone without doing a single fun thing. That's because that is EXACTLY what happened. 99% was spend studying while the other 1% was spent watching Burlesque. I don't care what the critics say, I am in love with this movie. Sequins, make up and glitter hold the key to my heart.

Since that was the only remotely fun thing I did yesterday, I will bore you with some food pictures.

Breakfast was turkey sausage links and 2 eggs...

Lunch was a yogurt bowl with Raisin Bran Crunch...

I then had some orange sorbet with a few grapes, yummy :)

For dinner I used my all-time favorite cooking tool, aluminum foil. It makes clean up a snap! I folded my carrots, broccoli, potatoes, mushrooms, zucchini, squash and onion into an aluminum foil pouch and 45 minutes later enjoyed some tender veggie lovin'! I also ate a few slices of Boars Head Golden Classic deli chicken on the side. Delicious and nutritious!

After dinner I took another quick break from studying and found Britney Spear's hit movie "Crossroads" (haha) on TV. Like the high school girl that I am, I watched for a bit before heading to the airport to pick up my favorite guy.

We made a pit stop at Wendy's for him on the way home and then I was forced to watch last week's Jersey Shore episode again (he missed it) before bed. It was a really hilarious episode actually, so I didn't mind.

So, back at work today and I feel like I'm already counting down the minutes until 5:00, or at least lunch time.

Breakfast today was 2 slices of wheat toast with peanut butter and coffee. Lunch is a chicken wrap and grapes. Dinner is going to be a salad with a side of chick peas.

The work out today consists of Spin Class, can't wait since I missed it on Saturday :(  followed by some stair mill and a walk with the doggie-dog.

I've also got to squeeze in some more study time before THE BACHELOR FINALE and catching up on last night's episode of OC Housewives. The Miami Housewives will have to wait until tomorrow I guess. The OC girls are still my faves.

Ta ta for now and I hope you all have a fantastic week!

Pretty nice little Saturday

No, there was no Home Depot or Bed Bath & Beyond (thank you Will Ferrell in Old School for that line)...but it was pretty productive and relaxing. After the gym, in which I totally screwed around with my plan, I took the pupper for a walk, ate lunch, showered AND washed my hair AND shaved my legs, got mah nails and toes did (let's face it, the only reason I shaved my legs is for this reason), ate dinner and am now writing this blog post before the late-night studying commences. About my plan for the gym...lets just say that I'm going to start calling my "Gym ADD" workouts "cardio circuits" because that sounds much cooler than the truth. The truth is, I was so freaking bored out of my mind and had like a gajillion thoughts going through my head that I couldn't bear to stay on the same machine for more than 15 minutes, and even that was a challenge. So, I started with 15 minutes on the arc trainer, then 15 minutes on the stair mill, and then 15 minutes on the elliptical. After my walk with the pup I lifted some weights here at home and did 10 more minutes on my stair stepper...I'm calling it a win.

Before the walk with Mercedes, we both enjoyed a little of her favorite hobby. By no means was it warm outside today, but she doesn't care. She'd leap in that pool if there were ice bergs in it.
I actually managed to catch an action shot. She's the only one to swim in our pool thus far, that water is freeeeezing, and we're to cheap to heat it. Please ignore the ridiculously tall grass that I think Scotty is boycotting.

I had the most amazing mani pedi today. Scotty should maybe be worried about me leaving him for this guy, even though I'm pretty sure he doesn't swing my way. My nails and toesies look A-mazing. I love them. Usually I have at least one complaint after every mani pedi, but not this time. I can't think of a single thing that he could've done differently. I will definitely be going back to this salon! It was some much needed relaxation and stress relief.
I decided not to scare you away with a new picture of my feet. Even though they are very soft and smooth right now, they'd still frighten you due to my freakishly long 2nd toe.
Having pretty fingernails and toenails makes me feel instantly more girly...instead of the cave woman that I've felt like here lately.

I spent an insane amount of money on produce today at the grocery store...and managed to blow through almost all of it in tonight's dinner.
I roasted these veggies (broccoli, cauliflower, squash, zucchini and carrots) topped with olive oil cooking spray, garlic powder, salt, pepper and a bit of parmesan cheese in the oven for about 35 minutes. I took them out and then added some mushrooms and onion and baked for a little bit longer. I then dumped them into a gigantic bowl and added a cup of brown rice...yummy!
Surprisingly I was still kinda hungry afterward though so I ate half of an apple with some PB for dessert.

I'm going to hurry up and try to get some studying done now because one of the greatest movies ever...WEDDING CRASHERS...comes on TV in an hour, and I have all intentions of passing out on the couch watching it. Hope everyone has a great night!

Flyin' by the seat of my pants

So this morning absolutely did not go as planned. I was supposed to get up and head to 9am spinning class. I was so pumped about it yesterday...and my head was pumped about it this morning, but my body just wasn't feeling it. I've been sick for the past week, and as always, mornings are worse. I could hardly swallow because my throat was so sore and my head was pounding. So, I listened to how I was feeling and skipped out, even though I knew I'd be missing that burn from spinning.

Instead I'm studying stupid accounting now and eating a bowl of honey almond yogurt topped with sliced almonds and a handful of Raisin Bran Crunch, yum! Did I mention that this is my second meal so far? I also ate a bowl of plain oats with a spoonful of peanut butter and half a banana mixed in when I first woke up. After I finish the current chapter that I'm working on I plan to hit the gym before it gets too late and I totally cop out. Instead of burning mad calories on the spin bike like intended, I'll probably go for a run on the treadmill and hopefully hit the stair mill for a little extra boost. Mercedes is also in desperate need of a walk, so that will be next on the list. I've also got a mani pedi planned for this afternoon and guess what else...MORE STUDYING. Have I mentioned how much I hate school? Cause I do. Who wants to be studying on a Saturday? At least its cold outside, well for southwest Florida that is. High of only 70 degrees today. So at least I won't be tempted to lay out by the pool. Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend so far...go do something fun for me!

Now I said my ABC's...

Wow...It has been quite some time since my last blog post. I have been under immense stress with school, holy moley. Good news is (if I can make it through) I should be finished and have that degree much sooner than expected. But, the hard part is surviving until then! Anyways...enough about complaining and stress...It's FRIDAY!!! It's a girl's weekend in my house, meaning just me and Mercedes. Scotty left us to spend the weekend in Chi-town with his home-boys. And when I say home-boys, I literally do mean home. boys. These guys are like brothers and have known each other and been best friends their whole lives. I am actually really envious of that type of bond. Unfortunately, I don't have that with friends from back home any more. We all made the standard promises of "We'll be best friends forever!" and "We'll never lose touch"...but as you can see, that didn't happen. I will take fault for a lot of it. After all, I am the only one that moved farther than 30 miles away from our home town.

Moving on to more important things: Today's workout.
30 Minutes Arc Trainer, 15 minutes Stairs, 30 minutes walk with the pooch.
Lower body strengthening- squats, lunges and some pilates-based exercises.

I'm already excited about tomorrow's workout- Saturday morning SPIN CLASS! Woot Woot!

So, although I haven't done a whole lot of posting in the past...like month...don't fret! I've still been reading. And I've come across a lot of ABC's of me posts and I love them. So, what the heck, I'll join the fun too!
